RED Episode #24 Levis JCC Sprint and Sip in Boca Raton

Last July, we went to Boca Raton to run the Levis JCC Run, Sweat, and Beers Race. We stumbled upon a great race.  It was on a Thursday, and that was the day I had off from work, and it was to support a community organization, so that is why we decided to go.  But we discovered a great organization, a well-organized run, and a great brewery at the after party.  So we registered for their inaugural Sprint and Sip, which was originally scheduled for September.  Hurricane Irma forced it to be postponed until March 2018. It is a great little nighttime race series, all contained within a park, and with beer at the after party.    This time, we got great little medals that double as bottle openers!  If you are in Boca Raton, check these little races out.

The reason I got so fascinated with this restaurant was that their logo looked like a comic book and caught my eye, but the food is so delicious at Kapow Noodle Bar.  The mural inside is beautiful and the food is next level.  We tried the Singapore Street Noodles. Their curry flavor and pork belly make me wish I could have it all over again as I write these show notes.  Mouthwatering goodness!

Barrel of Monks Brewery is nestled in a little industrial park, but the vibe inside is comfortable with great lighting and barrels mounted on walls.  Swag that pays tribute to classic 80’s movies and video games is the icing on the cake.  The beer is so tasty.  We tried the Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout Den of Sins.  Amazing!

Quick Bite # 11: Tapas Part 2

We are back at Patio Tapas and Beer to try another round of their tasty tapas!  Their happy hour is a steal with most dishes coming in at $3.  If you are in Boca Raton, you should definitely give them a try.  In this 3-minute video we sample:

Churrasco at $3 on happy hour this is a piece of skirt steak on a toasted baguette with mojo verde, peppery arugula and marble potatoes.

Duck Breast also $3 on happy hour (Duck at that price? How could we not!) that is seared and paired with fig marmalade and white truffle oil.

Manchego at $3 on the happy hour menu gave me the chance to try quince paste, which I have never had before.  The manchego is aged 12 years and its salty and Spanish flavor compliments the sweetness of the quince paste.

Quick Bite # 10: Tapas at Patio Tapas and Beer

We are back at Patio Tapas and Beer!  We tasted the sangria, and now we dive into their delicious tapas.  In a 2-min video, we talk about the Pork Belly and Piquillo Relleno.  These two are the perfect balance of flavors and they are just two more reasons you should visit Patio Tapas and Beer if you are in Boca Raton, Florida.  I know it is Spanish Tapas, and we did visit the Columbia Restaurant at our last race, but this was not to be missed, and I love tapas when I can't decided what I am in the mood to eat.  There are so many different Spanish influences as far as food in Florida, they are all worth sampling and enjoying!  This did not disappoint.  Try it next time you are in town and you'll see what I mean.

Pork Belly - $3 on their happy hour menu!  It is a piece of crispy pork belly on a toasted baguette with picked shallots and aioli.

Piquillo Relleno - $3 on their happy hour menu as well!  A stuffed pepper (I say it is a red pepper in the video, but it is a piquillo pepper) with goat cheese and a PX reduction (which tasted like a balsamic reduction).
