2019 Southernmost Half Marathon

The Southernmost Half Marathon is a race we are returning to in October 2019.  We start before sunrise, get an iconic picture at the Southernmost Point and continue on for miles and miles of beautiful ocean views as the sun rises.  Everyone gets a t-shirt and a finisher’s medal.  The races is run on the same course as the full marathon and the 5K at this Key West Running Festival.  Then you can celebrate on or off Duval with some delicious food and beverages.

2019 RunDisney Wine And Dine Half Marathon Weekend/2-Course Challenge

We are headed back to Disney for the Wine and Dine 2-Course Challenge November 2-3, 2019. This race holds a special place in our hearts since it is the first half marathon we ever completed. The 2-Course Challenge adds a second race, the 10K, making it a fun-filled weekend. There is also a 5K and a kids race option for those of all ability levels and age groups. And of course, once we have accomplished our goal, we will explore Disney Dining and indulge in drink from around the world at the EPCOT World Showcase as part of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. So, looking for a reason to come to Disney? Look no further. Click the button to go to the RunDisney website and sign up! We’d love to run this race with you and get together afterward to celebrate our accomplishment WITH YOU! This remains one of our favorite races and if you have to do only one Disney race in Florida, we think this is the one to do.

2019 Northside Hospital Orthopedic Institute Half Marathon Powered By Jeff Galloway

It is no secret that Jeff Galloway is our running coach, and we have found great success with his run-walk-run method when completing races with it.  This December, we head to Atlanta for 6th anniversary of Jeff Galloway’s races.  Now the race weekend includes the Northside Hospital Orthopedic Institute Half Marathon, featuring a 3-person relay option.  We will be running Barb’s 5K through Piedmont Park and the Half Marathon that takes us past some iconic sights in Atlanta.  Then we will explore and indulge more of what Atlanta has to offer and bring it to you.

2020 Donna Marathon Weekend

We have talked quite often about the Donna Marathon Weekend in Jacksonville being a must-do race experience.  We return to participate in the Booby Trap Challenge, including the 5K on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday of the race weekend in February.  The Jacksonville beaches offer great scenery but the community support along the course is second to none, which is what brings us back time and time again.  We also have so much more of the food and beverage scene to bring to you, and we will after we earn the great bling and support The Donna Foundation in its fight to end breast cancer.

2019 Anchorage RunFest

For the first time, we headed to Anchorage, Alaska in August for the Anchorage RunFest.   On Saturday, they had a fun 1-miler and on Sunday, we participated in the half marathon and ran into Jeff and Barb Galloway running the full marathon.  The medals were so unique and the course was flat and full of sights we don’t normally see in Florida.  Plus the breweries and the food scene were dynamite.

2019 Hemingway Sunset 5K

In Key West, we ran the Hemingway Sunset 5K in July.  It was a great race that gave us a beautiful sunset, a fun medal, and an opportunity to test Dana’s knee post-surgery while enjoying all the diverse food and beverage that Key West, both on and off Duval, has to offer.

Disney Virtual Running Series

We have several half marathons coming up this year, but not every week is a big, long run. Sometimes a quick 5K is all you need and In June, July, and August we took some of our training runs on the road and got some great medals in the process. The Disney Virtual Race Series this year was MARVEL themed! By running a 5K each month, we received one of the awesome medals you see in the picture, inspired by Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Iron Man. For completing the series, you get a bonus 4th medal that celebrates 80 years of Marvel Comics. It’s a theme we love and was a great tribute to Stan Lee. Each month we ran the Disney Virtual Race at one of the Disney Parks in Orlando, Florida and brought you some magical food and beverage from the “happiest place on earth.”

2019 Tampa Beer Run

In May we went back to the race where it all began! Our very first episode of the Run Eat Drink Podcast was shot as video at this run and we couldn’t think of a better way to commemorate 2 years of accomplishing, exploring, and indulging with you than to head back to Tampa, Florida for this absolute BLAST of a run! This park run is a closed loop course in Al Lopez park and it features 2 ounce beer tastings every .75 miles with a celebratory pint at the end. The race benefits My Hope Chest, an organization that assists breast cancer survivors with reconstructive surgery, and the Tampa Humane Society.

2019 Run the Bluegrass

At the end of March, we took our first trip of 2019 outside the state of Florida to Kentucky, the land of one of our favorite beverages: bourbon! This course challenged us with its time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes and with its hills. But we ran past great distilleries (Buffalo Trace), saw beautiful horses, and even pass Manchester Farm that appeared in Gone with the Wind! Of course, we brought you great food and drink offerings that you should try to celebrate your accomplishment!

2019 Gasparilla Distance Classic Half Marathon

When we completed the Donna Half Marathon at the beginning of February 2019, we finished the first part of our Treasured Chest Challenge. The second half brought us back to the Tampa area - so much to see and do in one of our favorite Florida cities. We ran the Gasparilla Distance Classic Weekend’s Half Marathon and completed the second part of our Treasured Chest Challenge. We showed you the beautiful view along Bayshore on the course as well as some great food and drink to celebrate after accomplishing this goal. Did we mention the HUGE bling we got after running these two races in Jacksonville and Tampa? Check it out.

2019 Booby Trap Challenge at the Donna Half Marathon

In February, we were off to Jacksonville, where we participated in one of our favorites, the Donna Marathon weekend. We ran there last year, but this year promised an all-new course for the half marathon, and with all the community support as we ran the 5K and the Half Marathon to complete the Booby Trap Challenge, we could not pass it up! The half and the full marathons have been redesigned to be flatter and faster, so we wanted to bring the changes to you! Plus, Jacksonville included some of the best food and drinks to celebrate our accomplishments last year, so we want to bring you more from around this awesome town. Even more importantly, we run this race to support a cause near to our hearts. We run to remember my husband’s mother, Clarice, who we lost to breast cancer, so running the race to finish breast cancer is very important to us. Crossing this finish line has a deeper meaning and it was an incredible race weekend to honor her memory.
