RUN

This week we ran the 15th Annual Sarasota YMCA Ringling Bridge Run in Sarasota.  This run benefits the Sarasota YMCA.  It was a beautiful run over the water, included some hill work on the bridge, which is one of the only ways you can get hill work in Florida, and there was no time limit, so it was perfect to get back into the swing of things in 2018!    Special thanks to Sarasota Police Department for keeping us safe on the course!

EAT

Our next stop was Yoder's Amish Restaurant, a famous spot for pie in Sarasota.  They have an amazing breakfast, were featured on Man Vs. Food for their delicious friend chicken, but we were there for the world-famous pie.  It was worth the wait!

DRINK

Our final stop this episode was Big Top Brewing Company.  We got to try their Ringmaster, an award-wining Raspberry Berliner Weiss.    It is a sour beer, but a delicious beer nonetheless.

THAT’S A WRAP!

RED Episode 8: FMPD Cops and Joggers 5K, Mission BBQ, and Bury Me Brewing

RUN

We are so excited to feature the Cops and Joggers 5K in this episode.  Fort Myers Police Department in partnership with Fort Myers Track Club hosted this nighttime race to benefit the Fallen Officer Memorial Fund and Brotherhood Ride.  It is a cause near and dear to my heart because I have been married to a police officer for 19 years.  I talked with the Race Director, Lieutenant Jeffery Bernice about the race. The Fallen Officer Memorial Fund supports families of officers lost in the line of duty and the Brotherhood Ride honors officers who have made that ultimate sacrifice.  This is the tenth year of the race and it was moved to an evening race to entice more runners and create a family fun night.  It delivered a fun experience for all.  I highly recommend this race for anyone living in the Southwest Florida area.  We got goodie bags that included a runner blinking light, a pen, a sample of BioFreeze (a great friend for sore muscles after a race), a t-shirt with a great tagline, and a keychain with the Cops and Joggers logo.

EAT

At the Cops and Joggers 5K, we got the chance to try Mission BBQ.  They are on a mission to support the Military, Police Officers, and Firefighters as well as other worthy causes.  They were serving up Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken Sliders along with Macaroni and Cheese...Amazing flavors!  There are locations all over the United States and we highly recommend visiting one to try their amazing BBQ.  We have a Quick Bite coming up soon that features an interview with the General Manager of the Fort Myers location, Adam Palladino.

DRINK

Finally, after we ran our race and accomplished our goal, we needed to explore the new Octoberfest Brew launched by Bury Me Brewing in Fort Myers. Danse Macabre Marzen was the first that we tried.  It was a good version of an Octoberfest beer.  This funky little place has a great vibe and wide selection of beers.  Yes, we got a flight and will share the other beers on Quick Bites soon!
