RED Episode #32: Behind the Beer at Ulele Spring Brewery

RUN

Last weekend, we were in Tampa at the Richard’s Run for Life.  That allowed us to have a very special behind-the-scenes look at the original beer made at Ulele Spring Brewery.

EAT

Ulele is a restaurant inspired by Native American culture and the food available locally from our land and sea here in Florida.   The food and the beer go hand-in-hand to create an amazing experience at your table.  Can you say Alligator Hush Puppies and Charbroiled Oysters?  We can tell you they are delicious.  Look for more on those dishes in Quick Bites soon.

DRINK

Ulele Spring Brewery has an eclectic selection of original beers.  Tim Shackton, the brewmaster at Uele Spring Brewery took us on a tour of his brewery and told us some of the stories behind his tasty beer.

RUN

Jeff Galloway 13.1 is a race that is near and dear to my heart because Jeff Galloway has been my run-walk-run coach for so many years.  He and his wife Barbara are such genuine and supportive people who are passionate about running.  Their beautiful half marathon and 5K courses support great causes like the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and the Piedmont Dog Park as well as the Donna Foundation and Team 413.  The half marathon course takes you through some of the best sights you can see in Atlanta.  This year, the race was a challenge for me because I rolled my ankle before mile 1 and had to fight to finish.  Next year, I will come back stronger and more careful than ever to highlight that beautiful course.  It was a race that tested endurance, mental toughness, and dedication.  The people on the course, especially the 4:30 pacers and that great group of ladies who finished just ahead of us and stayed to cheer us on, as well as Jeff at the finish, were wonderful to us and we can't thank them enough!  Next year will be great!

EAT

The Wrecking Bar Brewpub is located in a renovated and historic space in Atlanta.  The food we had, the corn pups, were incredible!

Wrecking Bar cheddarwurst, cornbread battered and fried, then served with curry ketchup & yellow mustard.  Melt in your mouth tender meat and the sweetness of the cornbread along with the tart and tang of the dipping sauces... just incredible.

DRINK

The Wrecking Bar Brewpub has homemade ginger beer, lime, and bourbon in their Kentucky mule.  It was perfect for bourbon lovers or anyone who likes a Moscow mule but is looking for a twist. Their drink menu is eclectic and beer selection is vast and has something for everyone, too.
