RED Episode #132: Smash Your Run 5K and Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Brunch

RUN

Medal Chasers has introduced a virtual race series dedicated to supporting some great charities as well as some of our favorite Marvel heroes!  So we had to run one while we were visiting Walt Disney World.  We ran the Smash Your Run 5K benefitting the Children’s Health Fund.  The perfect place to feel like you are running a RunDisney race is the Boardwalk.  We ran our 5K there and our goal was to take in all of the beautiful sights like people outside Boardwalk Bakery cheering for us when they realized we were running a virtual race and the beautiful view over the water of all the Epcot area resorts.  Finishing right in front of the bakery and putting our medals featuring Hulk’s fist smashing through a wall giving the medal a 3D feel.  it was great.

EAT

Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Disney Springs is a favorite place for us to go, but we have NEVER had brunch there because reservations can be hard to get.  Well this weekend, we had success! We did our 5K and headed over to Disney Springs hungry for something we have heard nothing but rave reviews about.  A HUGE item called the Hallelujah Biscuit.  An open-faced biscuit topped with Chef Art Smith’s famous fried chicken, two over-easy eggs, pimento cheese, pecan smoked bacon, and sawmill gravy.  It came with a side item.  We couldn’t share this one, so we each had one.  Dana had Bradley’s grits and Aimee had mouth-watering mac and cheese.  Needless to say, we wanted a nap after that huge and incredibly flavorful meal.  What better way to celebrate a 5K!

DRINK

Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ has outstanding brunch beverages, too.  We had the Sweet Tea Shine, Moonshine Mash, and a tasty Southern Mary.  Sweet Tea Shine is tasty sweet tea with lemon juice and moonshine.  Moonshine Mash incorporates moonshine with fresh watermelon and lime juice.  The Southern Mary is a spicy Bloody Mary topped with some of our favorites like a pimento cheese-stuffed olive and a fried green tomato!  We had great service and a great time at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’!

THAT’S A WRAP!
